What We Do
We are focused on combating anti-Black racism in Metro Vancouver high schools, with the belief that confronting anti-Black racism is an integral part of combating racism in general.
Though we will be prioritizing anti-Black racism, we are continually looking for collaborators who speak not only from a range of experience within our communities but also from within the Black community itself. The impacts of anti-Black racism are felt by all those who understand the need for strong communities committed to empowerment and participation.
Additional Services
Educators/ School Staff Workshops
Engaging workshops designed to equip educators and school staff with the knowledge
and skills to effectively address anti-Black racism in educational settings. From recognizing unconscious biases to fostering effective allyship, these workshops empower educators with practical tools and resources to create sustainable, inclusive and equitable spaces for students.
Student Workshops
Our student workshops offer young learners a multifaceted experience. They encourage the embrace of diversity, explore the rich history and contributions of Black individuals and communities, and engage in activities that promote inclusivity and cultural appreciation. Students are empowered to advocate for themselves respectfully and gain a deep understanding of their rights, instilling not only cultural understanding but also a strong sense of self-empowerment. Beyond these enriching experiences, these workshops also provide students with the opportunity to connect and collaborate with peers from different schools, expanding their networks and cultivating lasting connections.
